Digital Media Specialist

We are looking for a Digital Media Specialist who is armed with innate social knowledge and a passion for advocacy and digital organizing. This role will be pivotal in contributing to H/Co’s voter education and outreach digital campaigns for the Fall 2020 legislative season and election.  

The Digital Media Specialist will work with Hauswirth/Co staff to execute voter education and engagement campaign strategies across advocacy clients. 

This is a contract position for 2-3 months and requires availability Monday-Thursday for 20-30 hours weekly. This position is remote, but familiarity with the Illinois political and advocacy landscapes preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Paid Media

  • Assist in the day-to-day work of creating, managing, and optimizing paid social ad campaigns. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to building ads and optimizing campaigns to meet client goals.
  • Create, launch and optimize ads for Google AdWords, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Write short-form copy for social, website and emails. 
  • Collaborate with the team on managing social media activities, including monitoring and new trends and topics in digital communications, progressive policies and electoral politics. Preparing share outs for the team and managing content calendars.

Voter engagement tools

  • Develop and manage voter activation tools that capture contact information and drive constituent-to-lawmaker contacts, including: Click to call/email lawmakers, petitions, etc.
  • Design and build out emails using basic HTML within CRM platforms


  • Create data-driven campaign insights and analysis reports 

Who’s a good fit? Someone who is ambitious, social media-savvy, and passionate. Someone with experience in voter outreach/communications and digital strategies.


  • At least 1 year of experience working in digital organizing/advertising, politics or advocacy
  • Working knowledge of digital tools such as Facebook Ads Manager, Google Adwords, Twitter Ads Manager, etc.
  • Experience with CRM platforms like ActionNetwork, EveryAction, ActionSprout, etc., preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and writing skills (punctuation, grammar, tone of voice)
  • Personal interest in politics, advocacy, social justice, etc.
  • Strong team player with great interpersonal skills
  • Capable of bringing a lens of inclusivity to your work and to interactions with colleagues
